Seams are inherently linear. They physically join two or more materials through stitches. At this merging point, a line or crease emerges. Removing the fabric panels of clothing highlights the seams. When they are taken from their everyday context—worn on a body or hanger—and moved to the wall, they appear as line drawings. In some ways, the seams evade the two-dimensional world as gravity and wind create subtle movements of light threads. But overall, they generate a drawing quality with proximity to the wall and intentional decisions for placement within the installation.
